Public hearings into Healthcare Funding start today



The Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding will commence its public hearings today at 10am at the Chief Secretary's Building, Level 2, 121 Macquarie Street, Sydney. The hearings will be livestreamed on the homepage of the Inquiry's website. 

During this week, the Inquiry will hear evidence from NSW Health representatives.

Today, Ed Muston SC, Counsel Assisting the Inquiry, will outline the scope of the Inquiry under the terms of reference, as well as highlight the work that has been done so far and explain the next steps for the Inquiry in progressing its work.

It is anticipated that the following witnesses will be called to give evidence this week:

  • Ms Deb Willcox AM, (presently acting Secretary), Deputy Secretary, Health System Strategy and Patient Experience
  • Dr Kerry Chant AO PSM, Chief Health Officer and Deputy Secretary, Population and Public Health
  • Dr Nigel Lyons, Special Advisor, NSW Health
  • Mr Alfa D’Amato, Deputy Secretary, Financial Services and Asset Management and CFO

Members of the public are encouraged to stream the proceedings of the Inquiry online. The Inquiry's website will also be updated with transcripts and other relevant materials.

The Inquiry will deliver the final report to the Governor on or before 24 August 2024.
