Healthcare Funding Inquiry public hearings to resume on Monday 18 November

The Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding will resume its public hearings on Monday 18 November 2024, at 2pm in the Chief Secretary’s Building, 121 Macquarie Street, Sydney.



The Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding will resume its public hearings on Monday 18 November 2024, at 2pm in the Chief Secretary’s Building, 121 Macquarie Street, Sydney. The hearings will be livestreamed on the homepage of the Inquiry’s website.

The Inquiry will hold hearings between 18 November and 22 November focusing on issues raised by Terms of Reference (TOR) A and C in relation to funding. Below are some of the issues the Inquiry intends to explore during those hearings.

  1. Identification of Commonwealth funding structures and models.
  2. Identification of budget allocation processes from NSW Treasury through to individual facilities in Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks, Affiliated Health Organisations and non-government organisations.
  3. Evaluation of whether existing approaches and models adequately support and incentivise preventative healthcare and innovative models of care.
  4. Evaluation of the adequacy of funding, including whether budgets are sufficient for service delivery to build, maintain and effectively support a wider public health system.

Details regarding other witnesses appearing in this hearing block will be released via the Inquiry Website in due course.

The Inquiry invites members of the public to actively participate by live streaming the hearings, providing an opportunity to stay informed and engaged. Live streaming links will be available on the website.

The Inquiry will deliver the final report to the Governor on or before 24 April 2025.
